Many years ago I had a healing that turned my life around

Many years ago I had a healing that turned my life around. For some time I had been experiencing difficulty meeting the demands at my place of work because I was losing the feeling and use of one arm and leg. I chose to ignore the possibility of further detriment to my health and work, and (naively) I told myself, "Everything will be OK" and "Maybe I'll wake up sometime and feel whole." I knew deep in my heart that I needed some spiritual food, but I was not taking time to study Christian Science. I didn't read the weekly Bible Lesson (as outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly) or even read the Christian Science periodicals that were available to me.

After several weeks with no change, my supervisor asked me to do something about my condition, as I was becoming useless to the company. Still, although I had been raised in Science, I did not turn to it. Instead, I consulted a bone specialist and was told I had a ruptured disk, along with other complications, and it was possible that surgery would not correct the condition. I went home with much on my mind.

Finally, I contacted my mother, who is a Christian Science practitioner. After a visit over the telephone, I made the decision to stay home from work for a while and start to study seriously in order to understand and demonstrate the teachings of Christian Science. My mother joined me, and we began to dig into the Bible Lesson, sing favorite hymns, and pray deeply about this situation. I felt relief after a few days and soon enjoyed the exuberance of freedom from pain. I continued to search the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy for more spiritual instruction. I learned more about God and my true, spiritual identity.
