INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE

Several years ago a group of nurses at an Oregon university started wearing buttons with the slogan "Warning: Humor may be hazardous to your illness." The group called themselves "Nurses for Laughter." Their message is another reminder of what joy can do. More than a brave show in the face of troubles, true joy is a transforming power.

Where do you get this kind of joy? Like most of us at one point or another in our lives, a number of the contributors to this Sentinel have had to answer that question for themselves. Their articles shed some new light for those who may think they're always in "pursuit of happiness" but never quite able to catch it. ...

One writer comments, "I came to the realization that it isn't a lifestyle whether it's wild or conventional—that gives us the happiness and meaningfulness we all yearn for. ... An understanding of God as our loving Father-Mother who created His child ... to be forever perfect was the most wonderful gift that could be given to anybody." What she had spent so much time and effort trying to grab hold of was already hers God's rejoicing in His creation, the delight of divine Love in each of its little ones. Two other articles explore the impact of such spiritual discovery in healing disease and addiction.
