Christian Science has been the path to increasingly greater peace and purpose in all avenues of my life.
One of the most significant healings I've had took place not long after I had taken up the serious study of Christian Science. I had little self-control in eating. At the same time, although I wasn't overweight, I found myself obsessed with being thin and found it necessary to keep very little or no food in my apartment.
Two passages in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy helped me start to overcome this obsessive behavior. First, the description of matter as "... the opposite of Truth; the opposite of Spirit; the opposite of God; that of which immortal Mind takes no cognizance; that which mortal mind sees, feels, hears, tastes, and smells only in belief." And second, the description of mortal mind as "nothing claiming to be something, for Mind is immortal; . . . that which neither exists in Science nor can be recognized by the spiritual sense ...."
