In 1972 I was in turmoil with unhappiness and uncertainty about the meaning of life. One day my mother mentioned having had some contact with Christian Science many years before. She suggested I go to a Christian Science Reading Room to find some answers to my questions. As a result, I began to study this Science and to visit with a Christian Science practitioner.
Less than a month later, I went to our family doctor for a routine checkup. He had been very kind during the birth of our two daughters, and I had confidence in him. During the examination a worried look came over his face, and he said he was concerned about a lump in my breast. He brought in three doctors, all of whom examined me; then they withdrew for a consultation. When my doctor finally returned, he said it was their collective opinion that surgery must be performed immediately. He added that he had scheduled an operation to take place in three days. I told him I would think it over and went home.
After telling my husband and my mother what the doctor had said, I called the practitioner. He spoke to me of God's loving care of His children, and I began to feel at peace. That was a turning point in my life, for I decided to trust God completely.
