When my husband and I moved into our new home, we found we had nearly a ready-made yard fenced all around and planted with an abundance of shrubs at the front. We set about completing the backyard by purchasing plants and other shrubs. All seemed to be going along fine until we received a letter from the housing developer, informing us that all our boundary fences had been incorrectly positioned and would have to come down. Furthermore, we were to lose twelve feet of land at the back. As ours was only a small plot, this news was disturbing.

The letter, which came from the developer's legal department, made patently clear to us what we should have seen from the plans of our house and land—that the fences were incorrect. For our part, before purchasing the house, we had consulted our lawyer and had never been informed at any time during the process of purchase that our fences would have to be repositioned.

My husband and I have been studying Christian Science for many years. We have proved that we do not have to accept what appears to be an unsolvable situation. Rather, we can turn to God at once and find the right solution. we mentioned our problem to a Christian Science practitioner, who encouraged us to "enlarge [our] borders." These words can be found in the Bible in the book Exodus.
