I became a Christian Scientist many years ago after I had attended my first Christian Science lecture. During the ensuing years there has been steady spiritual progress. Our children have been brought up in this steady spiritual progress. Our children have been brought up in this Science, and my husband and I have both enjoyed the benefits of Christian Science class instruction. Along the way various challenges have been met, two of which I relate here.

Several years ago I slipped on an icy road, landing with full weight on my hands. One wrist appeared broken, and I could not use the hand. Through trusting that God's man has never been separated from His care, I was able to walk the rest of the way home.

I decided that a Christian Science practitioner's help was needed. I studied passages in Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings. Particularly helpful to me were those with the words intact and indestructible. For example Science and Health states, "The harmony and immortality of man are intact." The incident happened at the beginning of the week, and I began to wonder if I could be at my post as First Reader in our branch church the following Sunday. The Second Reader was very supportive, and we proceeded with our usual practice period on Friday. My husband, as designated substitute, agreed to stand in for me if it was necessary.
