Christian Science has had a wonderful healing and regenerative influence on my life. Since beginning my study of this Science, I have felt purpose and contentment I had never known before.
I was raised in one of the Christian denominations, but as I grew older I found I could not accept its teachings. The idea that only those taught by this denomination would be saved was especially troubling to me. Feeling in my heart that God cares for all His children and that He knows no dogma, I left this denomination when I was a teenager.
After high school I began drinking and smoking marijuana as social activities. Both quickly became habits. I continued this lifestyle, drinking and getting "high," throughout my twenties. Yet all the while I was partying with the crowd, I could not accept their casual views on sex and relationships. Outwardly I tried to convince myself that sexually loose behavior was OK, but I could never feel comfortable with it in my heart. Several times I was attracted to a particular woman, only to have the budding relationship fall apart when I failed to make or refused to respond to sexual advances.
