Listening
Our Father's demands come
in powerful stillness;
not in a rush of "I must's"
propelling us through an uptight day.
The Christ is here
to still this self-storm,
enabling us to hear,
and joyfully obey,
God's commands.
Thus shepherded,
we lose the push
of human will—
and rediscover within
the peace that is ours.
