After completing Christian Science class instruction, I had a very definite sense of God's presence upholding me as His child. I truly felt I could say that in reality I had always been a spiritual idea of God. It was a time of great buoyancy, and it helped me with a major challenge I was to face shortly.
As I was walking with a friend in the downtown area of a major American city, I stepped on a large stone as we were crossing the street. I started to fall, one foot turned under me, and all my weight was placed on the ankle. I recovered my balance without falling, and my friend asked if I was all right. I responded that everything was fine. He said that I must have very strong ankles if I was not hurt.
I affirmed silently that God was supporting me and protecting me as His beloved child. When we returned to the office, I prayed for a few minutes, acknowledging my real, spiritual identity. Soon my work required that I prepare for the rest of the day's business.
