Once I cut my thumb badly while cleaning a terrarium
Once I cut my thumb badly while cleaning a terrarium. I felt faint and very afraid. I called a neighbor who is a member of my branch Church of Christ, Scientist. She said she would be happy to come and help; then she said she knew God was right there with me. As I felt God's presence with me, the pain and fear left. I no longer felt I needed someone with me, and I said she didn't need to come. I bandaged the thumb, and it was completely healed the next day. I attribute the fast healing to my quick acceptance of the spiritual truth my friend voiced.
Throughout my life there had been a growth in the corner of one eye. I had ignored it for many years, but at one point in my teaching career, someone said something about it for the first time. I realized it was time to heal this. I saw clearly that the purpose of healing is to glorify God and not merely to make the body better. I knew that while the growth had caused me no particular concern, it was an example of imperfection; and I knew that the Bible teaches, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matthew).
