Remarks by a physician in introducing a Christian Science lecturer in Davis, California:

"It is my pleasure and honor to have been asked to introduce our speaker today.

"I would like to share with you a thought that has just occurred to me, that each of us here might be broadly categorized into one of three groups.

"First, those here who know nothing or very little about Christian Science and have come to get some clarification of what it is all about.

"Second, those of us who have been exposed to Christian Science but who are not actually members of the Church. I count myself among you and look forward to learning, with you, more about the ways in which a spiritual understanding of God can influence every aspect of the human situation.

"You in the third group are active members of the [Christian Science] Church, and you will be able to share the inspiration you will gain from the insights and experiences our speaker will relate."
