I see that I traveled a long and sometimes difficult journey...

I see that I traveled a long and sometimes difficult journey from a solely mortal sense of existence to a more spiritual one, from the time I was twelve years of age to the time I was thirty-six, when I embraced Christian Science. I was not raised in Science; nevertheless, each time I was in danger in my life, I was led to a quiet sense of confidence that came to me from my observation of relatives who were Christian Scientists. Observance of their conversation and way of living gave me something priceless, something I envied at the time, and which I now have in some measure.

Since coming into Christian Science many years ago, I have had healings of a two-pack-a-day cigarette habit, social drinking, a bad back, migraine headaches, symptoms of arthritis, and countless lesser difficulties.

I have tried to live with these Scriptural quotations: "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Romans). And from Hebrews, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Also, from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Truth is affirmative, and confers harmony. All metaphysical logic is inspired by this simple rule of Truth, which governs all reality."
