Prior to taking up the study of Christian Science I attended another Christian church for twenty-six years, almost since birth. Then a brother brought into our home some Christian Science literature, which I began to read. As a result of this, many changes took place. I learned a great deal about God and my relationship to Him and decided to follow Christian Science. I began attending a branch church. My wife-to-be, who had also attended the other church, said to me, "I want to go to church with you on Sunday." So she came—and stayed—and together we learned more of God and man and have had a happy marriage and a blossoming way of life we've never regretted.

We both have experienced various healings. On one occasion I became aware of shingles in a band around my body. Cogent counsel from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to mind: "Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously." Well, now, as I only desired God's good and His love to be manifested through me, I accepted the healing power of that good love. The shingles rapidly disappeared.

Another time I injured a finger and it became infected. Looking at it one day, I realized I had not prayed about the condition. At once I thought that since God is the only cause, nothing can gather that is not called by God; nothing can grow that has not the divine animus. Very quickly the finger healed. "The word of God is quick, and powerful" (Hebrews), a fact for which I am grateful.
