The testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals...
The testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals have been a source of knowledge and inspiration to me throughout the years. I have been helped many times when facing challenges merely because someone was grateful enough to come forward and tell what "great things the Lord hath done" (Mark). I hope this testimony will be of help to someone.
I did not take up the study of Christian Science for healing. I wanted to find out more about God. But while reading the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of an intestinal infection and of a bronchial cough. Later I faced a severe challenge when I developed a sore throat. I wanted to be healed through prayer, but at the same time I told myself that if my prayers were not successful within a reasonable time, then I would resort to material
Science and Health states, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." Also, in James we read, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." My double-minded approach sealed the outcome. My prayers were ineffective, so I went ahead and took some medicine. This seemed to help the sore throat but at the same time it created a stomach disorder. I was unable to eat normally for several days.
