I wish to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and for how it has blessed my family and me with love, progress, and health. I came to Science as a teen-ager while living in my former country, Cuba, and I am grateful for the deep spiritual roots established while I was attending my first branch church.

In the year 1964 I found myself in a hospital, suffering from pregnancy complications. I was required to have many tests and X-rays (though no medication), but I remained confident through these procedures because I had my Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy with me, as well as some copies of The Herald of Christian Science (Spanish Edition). The spiritual truths of these books and magazines comforted me. After several extensive tests, a doctor informed me very seriously that there was little chance that the baby and I would survive the birth.

I had not been prepared for such a prognosis, but my help was at hand. As I turned my head my eyes lighted on the back cover of a copy of the Herald, where I read in bold, black type the words "This book can save your life." The book referred to was the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. There were no fears or tears; I knew, on the basis of the spiritual truths in Science and Health, that the baby and I would be all right.
