Do you long to be loved?

Whether or not we feel loved by our human family and friends, we can learn to know and rely on God's all-embracing love.

Humanity —diverse, infinitely individualized—so often seems separated into opposing factions. But many of us would agree that we are united by at least one great common tie: we yearn for love, and to be loved.

Institutionalized babies are said not to thrive as strongly as loved children, and so in some hospitals there are volunteers whose whole mission is to encourage and lavish affection on these little ones, who respond to it and improve.

There are volunteer organizations that bring dogs into hospitals and nursing homes for the purpose of letting these loving animals express to patients the unconditional love of pets. Patients are found to be encouraged by and deeply responsive to this special kind of love.
