Quite a while ago, two growths appeared on my foot
Quite a while ago, two growths appeared on my foot. The growths became extremely painful and interfered with my walking. I believe they would be called plantar warts. Although I prayed diligently, the situation did not improve but rather seemed to worsen. As the trouble continued, I became discouraged.
The time approached when my husband and I were soon to be taking a ski vacation. I wondered how I could manage to ski since pressure on my heel caused intense pain.
One afternoon while I was studying the Bible Lesson (outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly), it occurred to me that all along I had not been doing very much listening—honest, humble listening or really asking God for the answer. It was more a case of my personally trying to pray my way out of a difficulty. I had been praying from a rational, intellectual standpoint, trying to reason humanly the proper approach to take in my prayer without taking much time to listen for divine guidance. "Father, what is it that I need to know?" I finally asked.
