FROM THE DIRECTORS
"If we can aid in abating suffering and diminishing sin, we shall have accomplished much; but if we can bring to the general thought this great fact that drugs do not, cannot, produce health and harmony, since 'in Him [Mind] we live, and move, and have our being,' we shall have done more." Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy, p. 8.
Many decades before drug abuse threatened to become an international crisis, Mary Baker Eddy was urging her followers to bring to public thought a message of hope for a drug-free society. Beyond hope lies faith, and beyond that spiritual understanding, or total dependency on God.
Churches in the United States have been asked to join in supporting government efforts to save victims of illegal drugs. This Church's commitment is rooted in a long history of healing people whose lives have been lifted out of bondage to drugs—legal as well as illegal ones.
