Go and read the ninety-first Psalm!
Go and read the ninety-first Psalm! That's what the Christian Science practitioner said to me.
My parents had been divorced; I didn't know my father. Many members of my family had been or were ill, and there was much worry and sadness in the family. I yearned to be able to comfort them. But at the same time I felt abandoned and lonely, and I withdrew from people. Later I had an obsession with being thin. I also smoked and was very ambitious.
I sought solutions for my problems and wished I could understand God. I became a medical technical assistant and began studying medicine, for I wanted to help eliminate sickness and give people what I felt they were looking for—love.
