The spiritual means for preventing accidents
We don't need to wait until the "law of chance" catches up with us; by understanding God's harmonious government we can prevent accidents before they happen.
Our landing had been rough. In a tone of surprise, the captain announced that wind shear had brought the plane to the ground earlier in the landing than usual. But, as we all could see, everything was intact, all were safe. We were each, in our own way, grateful!
As I thought back to my prayer before takeoff, I was quietly grateful to God. I had felt impelled to pray specifically about wind shear, and I had affirmed God's ever-present, all-harmonious direction of man's activity. As a Christian Scientist I knew from experience that when this spiritual truth is understood and applied as law, it brings harmony to discordant situations, preventing accidents and correcting untoward conditions.
I had learned that prayer brings peace, clarity of thought, and security and that it rules out fear, confusion, or vulnerability when we're in threatening circumstances. Our safe landing had proved once again to me that this was true.
