You are needed

Lucy Chambers Karwell

If you would be a candle
prepared to light earth's dark,
your heart must be a ready wick
awaiting Spirit's spark.

You must be dipped and dipped again
in oil of consecration
till, layered strong, you can be lit
for the world's illumination.

Then lift your radiant taper high.
Reach out as stars above;
for, more than laser's cutting beam,
the world needs light of Love.
