I wish to express my gratitude to God that I was led to become acquainted with Christian Science.
When I was ten years old I had an appendectomy. Several weeks later my family took me to the seashore; and when I climbed the high sand dunes there, the wound opened. It closed again superficially, but underneath it remained open, forming what is medically known as a ventral hernia. For many years I suffered with this painful condition, unable to undertake strenuous activity and constantly under the threat of another operation.
In 1979 I became interested in Christian Science. I had become acquainted with Science a year earlier but had been reluctant to accept it. Then I was invited to attend a Christian Science lecture, and from that time on I began to study the Bible Lessons and to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from beginning to end. As a result I had important healings; but I didn't seem able to find a solution for this particular problem.
