It is with great joy that I share the following healing that have come about through application of the spiritual truths of Christian Science. These truths have saved, enriched, and healed me and my family over many years.

I was raised in Christian Science, so it was natural for me to turn to it when I needed help of any kind. When I went into the Navy during the Second World War, I was almost immediately assigned to a ship that was sent regularly on especially dangerous missions. During my year and half there, the ship was assigned to no less than four such missions, yet we did not receive one hit. I attribute this protection to the power of prayer.

I later spent twenty years in the Navy, reaching positions of command. I was able to use my understanding of God's protecting laws to experience protection for me and the ship from such adverse conditions as hurricanes, wartime extremes, and mechanical limitations. I will always be grateful to have learned in Christian Science that no condition or location is ever outside of God's loving care.

During much of my military years, my wife raised our children far from her family and without close assistance from me, as I was away so often. But we both knew that no child of God can ever be separated from God's love. The caring, spiritual growth, and healing we experienced during those years provided the proofs of God's care that allowed us to face each new challenge with renewed confidence in His love.

I have had numerous physical healings in this Science. For many years I suffered from headaches, but when I turned completely to God in prayer, they disappeared. Now, thirty-eight years later, I can say that I have not had a headache since.

Another healing I had was of a growth that appeared on my upper eyelid, and grew in size. One day when I was on a flight from overseas, a doctor sitting next to me said the growth would enlarge if nothing were done soon. He offered to remove it at no charge in his office. I knew I had to rely upon the truth of my spiritual selfhood, for up till then I had not prayed about the condition.

I went home and with the prayerful support of a Christian Science practitioner got back to basics in my studies. I decided to start with God, work on to a deeper understanding of the Christ, and then learn more of my real nature as God's perfect idea. Using Concordance, I would read all the references I could find in the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy on these three subjects. Well, just a few days into this study (I was only scratching the surface of the references to God), the growth started to bleed, and within minutes it dropped off. Within an hour, my eye was clean.

In the Navy, at one time I was given the diagnosis that I would have kidney stone trouble throughout my life with all the associated frequency and pain. At another time I was tested and found to have tuberculosis. Both conditions yielded very quickly to my prayers, supported by a practitioner, and there have been no further indications of either disease during the numerous required physical examinations I have had since these healings.

At one point our family was in a restricted financial condition. Opportunities just weren't opening up to provide improvement in our finances. My wife (who had also been raised in Christian Science) and I knew that God's provision of good is unlimited. We were confident we could grow in our understanding of this spiritual fact through our study of Christian Science. We prayed together many evenings and read the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy.

In less than a month's time, a career opportunity appeared that was unlike anything we had expected. Following the leadings of prayer, I applied, only to be told that I didn't have all the requisite qualifications. This gave us new areas to pray about. Namely, we recognized that God's man is always complete. The limitations dissolved quickly, and soon we moved and were firmly back in the Navy, where we spent fifteen rewarding years. Not only were our needs met, but we have continued to flourish from that early start of seeing God as the fount of all good.

My gratitude to God for church membership and Christian Science class instruction is greater than words can adequately state. I am grateful that my mother realized the healing power of the Christ and raised her children in this wonderful teaching. I am also grateful for the many Christian Scientists around the world who, since Mrs. Eddy's time, have continued to take the steps necessary to maintain branch churches, have become Christian Science practitioners and teachers, and have given daily support to activities of The Mother Church. Through their efforts this wonderful Science remains available to all mankind.
