When my son was about three years old he became ill with asthma. It became progressively worse. Many different medical treatments were tried with little or no results. Hospitalization with the use of oxygen was required a number of times. Doctors taught me how to give the boy shots of adrenaline to aid his breathing.

I decided there must be a better way! I prayed, as I had a deep faith in God. Then I remembered a dear lady who many years earlier had told me that her young daughter had been healed of blindness through Christian Science. I was so moved by this glimmer of hope that I put the children in the car and made my way to the grocery store, where I had seen a rack that contained some Christian Science literature. I took copies of The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel. As soon as I got back home I turned to the testimonies and read them.

Later I went to a Christian Science Reading Room, where I talked with the librarian and purchased a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading a good part of this book and thinking deeply about many of the statements I was reading, I knew this made sense.
