I would like to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science. When I first started studying this Science I was drinking, smoking, and using drugs. My grandmother and I were very close during this time. She had been a devout student of Christian Science for many years, and she would offer issues of the Christian Science periodicals to me. But when she offered them I would say, "Thank you anyway, but I am not ready yet."

One evening after coming home from work (I was staying with my grandmother at the time) I was in tears from pain in my back. I had been lifting heavy boxes all day at my job. Grandma offered to read to me from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mr. Eddy. This time I accepted her offer and listened to her read and talk to me for several hours. At the end of that evening I felt free from pain. I slept well and woke up the next morning feeling a deep sense of gratitude.

Soon after this experience I started studying Christian Science occasionally, and within a few years I became a serious student of Science. I have been healed of drinking, smoking, and using drugs, all through the study of Christian Science.
