Thirty-four years ago my first testimony appeared in the Sentinel, and since that time I have had many other wonderful proofs of Christian Science healing.
I remember my mother telling me of her healing of sick headaches through reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. As an adult I, too, seemed to have frequent headaches. During a severe attack I walked the floor, declaring out loud some spiritual truths that had a great deal of meaning for me. One statement from Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized," stood out to me. I felt I was being radical, for I was sure that God is good. The other thought I held to was also from Science and Health (p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." In about an hour all pain left, never to return; that was over thirty years ago. How grateful I am.
A few years ago I had a battle with ingrown toenails. At times of fear and discomfort I would call a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful support. Knowing and holding to the truth that God made man in His likeness, and that this is true of me, formed the basis of my prayers. This line from the Bible, "Perfect love casteth out fear" (I John 4: 18), and this passage from Science and Health, "Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil" (p. 571), were especially helpful. Fear began to lessen, and through persistent, steady prayer the ingrown nails grew out. That was over eight years ago, and there has been no return of the condition.
