Hassles—or opportunities to trust God more?
Moving to a new home may not seem an ideal occasion for learning more of God. But, in fact, it's a perfect opportunity.
Not long ago we felt we should move from our isolated home in the country into town. We had loved living in "the boondocks," but we had prayed earnestly and, as a result, were confident that the move was right. In fact, we felt not a trace of sadness about leaving. Within a week we'd found a house in town.
We heard from all sides that this move would be one hassle after another—particularly the sale of our former home. Well-meaning people would say, "Because your house is in an isolated location and real estate values are low out there, you'll never get your money out of it." Such remarks at times seemed downright scary.
It was obvious to us that we had a choice. We could accept the prospect of a hassle-ridden situation or ask ourselves, "What is God requiring of us? How may we serve God more unselfishly and see this as a divine opportunity?"
