Unbelievable!
What could have been worse than the day the bulldozer attacked the lilac bushes and the little gazebo in the vacant lot on the other side of our back fence! And there was more to follow.
The family that moved into the new house had a son-with-stereo that provided our entire street with mega-decibels of throbbing sound, drowning the birdsongs and civilized silences of the neighborhood.
We're talking about the quality of family and community life that was threatened here —and about intrusion, selfishness, and outrage. Can one family in a neighborhood inflict what they enjoy on other families? Is there no way of escape?
