It is with deep gratitude that I share the following testimony of a healing that occurred a number of years ago. There was an abnormal issue of blood that had continued for some time. There was also pain and some swelling. I called a Christian Science practitioner and told her of the situation. She agreed to pray for me and then asked me why I would believe in such a condition when it was no part of my real being as the spiritual idea of God.

This question startled me and aroused me to become more receptive to the healing Christ, Truth. I did not have to accept the condition. I saw that my true identity is not in what is called a mortal body but is a spiritual idea, made in the image and likeness of God, as is recorded in the first chapter of Genesis, verses 26 and 27. I realized that I was totally separate from the whole claim of a physical difficulty and that the truth of God was present. As Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy states (p. 14), "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth." God had given me dominion, and I had to use it.

The result was that shortly after I hung up the telephone something came away from the body, and within a half-hour all bleeding stopped. I was able to resume normal activity and care for the family. Many years have passed since this, to me, most remarkable healing, and I am grateful to be able to share it.

Some years ago, in spite of the fact that many people felt my husband was doing a good job as chief of police in our city, he was demoted because of a political controversy. My husband is not a Christian Scientist, but I realized I had to pray about this situation, which affected us both.

With the prayerful support of a practitioner, I prayed throughout the two years in which my husband was involved in litigation to get his job back. There were many healings in our family during this time, and I gained a much higher concept of law, order, justice, and so forth as I prayed and studied the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings. One statement found in the Bible in Isaiah was particularly helpful (33:22): "For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us." The practitioner reminded me that law and order are divine ideas controlled by God and that man's true position is already established in Mind as its idea.

I endeavored not to respond with human will or to outline how the situation should work out but to trust God and yield to His will. The case went up to the Nebraska Supreme Court; my husband won and served our city as chief of police until he retired. He was then asked to run for public office and was elected and served as a county official for four four-year terms until he again retired.

I am profoundly grateful for the Comforter, Divine Science, and for Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered this wonderful method of Christ-healing and shared her discovery with all mankind through the Christian Science movement.
