Love's anointing

It may come as a surprise (this anointing business)
even without green pastures
while still thirsting for living waters
right where inspiration has suddenly gone dry
here at this wilderness table surrounded by uninvited guests.

It is often unobserved (beauty in this desert place)
yet how expedient is Love's plan
with full provision of oil
enough for today to bear witness to His tender mercies
poured forth from the unfathomed well of grace.
