My first significant healing occurred before I had chosen to...
My first significant healing occurred before I had chosen to study Christian Science actively and before I really understood how and why this teaching is effective. So for me the experience proved that it is not the human mind that heals but rather God, divine Love.
The occasion was my first parachute jump. The descent seemed normal. Unknown to me, however, my parachute had not opened completely, so I landed with much greater force than was normal. I found that I could not stand up, as we had been instructed to do, and slowly I realized why everyone was rushing over to me.
I don't remember much except that I insisted on going home, not to the hospital as others strongly urged me to do. My mother drove me home after I had been carried to the back seat of her car, and we talked on the way about how God could heal me. By then I was unable to move, and no position afforded me comfort. Once home, my mother made me as comfortable as possible. Then she called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me.
