This testimony showing my deep gratitude to God is long...

This testimony showing my deep gratitude to God is long overdue.

Practically all of my childhood was spent in boarding schools. How grateful I am to have been adopted by a couple who enrolled me in the Christian Science Sunday School of a branch church. Each Sunday I received much love and encouragement from the teachers. The last boarding school I attended was a school for Christian Scientists. Every morning after breakfast and before our classes, we had time set aside for studying the daily Bible Lesson outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly.

One afternoon I became ill and had to return to my room. My family was notified, and the principal and teachers were very supportive and helpful. With the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed in a few days of what had appeared to be pneumonia, and I returned to my studies.

Later, after I had married, one day our nine-year-old son was playing outside with his sisters and younger brother. This son came dashing into the house and ran into his grandmother, who had just turned away from the stove with a pan of boiling potatoes. The hot water scalded our son's chest.

I quickly took off the child's shirt and had him sit down quietly with me. Together we prayed, affirming spiritual truths. I also asked him to say with me "the scientific statement of being" found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. It begins (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." Within minutes our son stopped crying and was out playing. He had been healed. This is only one proof of God's great love that my family and I have received over many years.

The spiritual truths of being shared in the Christian Science periodicals have helped me immensely. An article in the Sentinel inspired me at a time when I needed a place to live and was praying about this need. Through an acquaintance I learned of an apartment that would be available soon. I made the move and have been extremely happy at this place. It is close to church and within walking distance of the Christian Science Reading Room, where I serve once a week.

I'm so grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. My love for God, for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for the Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy, is more than words can express.
