I have had many healings through the study and application of Christian Science, but one in particular stands out to me as proof of this statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 201): "The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love."

About seven years ago I had been uncomfortable one evening. Shortly after going to bed I found it impossible to sleep or lie still, so I went into another room to study and pray. At that point I noticed several red patches on my body. For the next few hours I alternately lay on the couch and paced the floor. I listened to a cassette tape of hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal (produced by The Christian Science Publishing Society), and I read aloud from the Bible and Science and Health. At about three o'clock in the morning I went back to bed and slept a little until the alarm rang shortly after five o'clock.

After the family had left for the day, I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help through prayer. She agreed to pray for me, and I spent most of the day studying and praying. I read the story of the three Hebrew men who endured the fiery furnace with no ill effects (see Dan., chap. 3). It seemed as though I were on trial by fire, and I affirmed that like the Hebrew men, I too could pass through this experience without "the smell of fire" on me (verse 27).
