Christian Science came to the notice of my family during the First World War. At that time several family members occasionally attended the local branch church, which held its Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings in a room over a shop in the town centre. Our family was deeply impressed by the Lord's Prayer and by its spiritual interpretation, given on pages 16 and 17 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy.
My first healing occurred after an accident at work, when boiling rusty water was spilled over my leg. The leg became badly discoloured from knee to ankle. Through my mother's and brother's simple trust in the truths of the Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation, all pain faded away. I slept that night and woke completely healed.
Another of my early healings was that of an abscessed ankle. This came through the prayer of a Christian Science practitioner.
