A few years ago I experienced sudden severe hemorrhaging, which was very frightening. I had prayerful help from a Christian Science practitioner, and the hemorrhaging stopped immediately. Yet my fear of the condition remained, and the pain was not overcome at once. A few times I was tempted to seek medical advice, but I recalled past healings I had had in Christian Science and was determined to rely solely on God for this healing.

Although I sometimes felt much discomfort, I didn't miss work because of the difficulty. I was teaching in a Christian Science Sunday School at the time; the spiritual truths shared by the children and me in class each Sunday were so uplifting that I know this was a positive force in helping to bring about the complete healing.

During my lunch hour at work I would often walk and repeat this verse from Hymn 139 in the Christian Science Hymnal:
