Through Christian Science I have grown closer to God

Through Christian Science I have grown closer to God. He has become my dearest friend, my most trusted counselor, and my guide. Throughout my study of Christian Science, many blessings have come into our family.

One time I began to feel discomfort in the back of one hand. I did not give it much thought, because my husband and I were preparing for a trip. In a few days an eruption appeared on the back of the hand. Because there was a secretion, I kept the hand bandaged, but my whole thought went out to God in prayer. I had no fear, because I had seen proofs over many years that God is the one true Physician. (My husband was not a Christian Scientist at this time, though he was happy to have me and the children rely on God for healing. He later became a devoted student of Science.)

At first I had a Christian Science practitioner pray for me concerning my hand. But soon I felt that it was for me to assiduously work out this problem myself. I realized then that it wasn't my hand that needed healing, as much as my thinking that needed cleansing—so that I might see more clearly my inseparability from God, from good, Life and Love, as God's spiritual, perfect child.
