To the wakeful one

If in the past-midnight darkness nagging unhealed
worries angers fears
sorrows pains doubts
from which your up-and-at-'em/off-and-running
daytime busying successfully (you thought)
cloaked and shielded you
now—unbidden—prick you to uneasy
all-unwilling half-awakeness,
why linger
wallowing, drifting, resisting, postponing
inevitable confrontation
the active Christ in you demands?

Dawning truth within is prodding you to grow!
So up you go
to study, listen, pray, unmindful more
of sleep's comfortable allure.

Persisting, you will rest in Love's sweet benediction,
assured of Mind's unerring jurisdiction
over you and yours and all.
Bright clear insights
and forward goings bless the faithful
in the night.
