I have always loved the testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals, even when I was a small child. During those years, whenever I was not feeling well I would go to my mother, a Christian Scientist, and ask her to read the testimonies to me. Healing would soon come. I recall having an earache in the middle of one night. My mother prayed for me and read to me about those who had been healed through prayer. I just knew God loved me too. The pain soon disappeared and I was free.

Our family lived in the same house until I was about thirteen. Then my father's work took us to another city. I was quite unhappy because I was very shy and afraid to make new friends. Through an understanding of the truths of Christian Science, a secure sense of my real identity as God's child was gained, and shyness and extreme sensitivity were replaced with confidence. Many friendships and right activities followed.

A beautiful marriage that spans over forty years was established and has continued to grow through the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. In the chapter entitled "Marriage" this passage has been a wonderful guidepost (p. 58): "Tones of the human mind may be different, but they should be concordant in order to blend properly. Unselfish ambition, noble life-motives, and purity,— these constituents of thought, mingling, constitute individually and collectively true happiness, strength, and permanence."
