Home at last
I strayed.
And although I prayed, I did not really want to
hear the answer,
Choosing still to follow my own will.
The siren song beguiled me long, and kept my feet
from walking in the way.
Yet in the midst of my resisting,
Some far-off music kept insisting,
There is a "higher selfhood which we all must prove." Christian Science Hymnal, No. 66.
But still I did not move.
At last, when emptiness became the order of each
unwelcome day,
I knew I must have answers.
That's when I really learned to pray, to fast, to listen .
