Not long after my graduation from college, I was faced with a severe testing time in my ability to make practical the healing truths learned in the Christian Science Sunday School.

I was a visitor in another country and found I was unable to be physically active because of almost constant pains in my chest. There was also an inability to digest food or eliminate properly. In fact, several times there was no elimination for a lengthy period. My friends were not Christian Scientists, and I was hundreds of miles from the nearest Christian Science practitioner.

I did have a copy of the Bible, and of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which were a great comfort to me. For the first time I began to read Science and Health from cover to cover. While I was reading the spiritual truths found in this book, I was free from discomfort. I loved what I was learning of God and my unity with Him.
