How do we measure our progress?
A question that troubles us all from time to time is, "Am I really making progress?" We may be concerned about our career prospects, the expansion of our business, or even our children's performance at school. And too often the measurement we make use of to determine our progress is a worldly criterion which can be as shifting as a weather vane.
But there is a more certain way of measuring progress. The life of Christ Jesus illustrates a spiritual way to assess achievement.
We know little about his childhood years, but Luke's account gives us some vivid insights into his character. We can see from this Gospel's brief description that the child Jesus was already making good progress in spiritual maturity: "The child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." Luke 2:40.
