"Have you hugged your children today?"

The bumper sticker on the car in front of me this morning asked if I had hugged my kids yet. No, I thought, but you can be sure I will as soon as they come home tonight. I do love our children. They know I do, too, but I'm grateful for that reminder to show them.

As I drove along appreciating them, I remembered a Bible promise that had meant so much to me when they were small: "He [God] ... shall gently lead those that are with young." Isa. 40:11. Although I was then a new student of Christian Science, already I was feeling God's gentle yet firm leading.

I'll never forget one day in particular. There I was, one of six young mothers and ten preschoolers at a neighborhood get-together, where the conversation went something like this:
