The healing effects of spiritual vision
Every morning a member of the maintenance staff at the school where I worked greeted me with the same cheery question, "How are you doing?" I could predict his greeting and looked forward to our daily exchange.
During one period I began to notice that my answers had gradually dropped from "It couldn't be better" to "It couldn't be worse." About then I also became conscious of a low-level headache I was experiencing much of the time.
As a student of Christian Science, I knew that the thoughts I entertained daily, whether Godlike or ungodlike, largely determined the harmony or the discord of my outward experience. Some quiet examination of my thinking and my life revealed that I was harboring a deep-seated antagonism toward a member of the school's parent-teacher organization. This person had appeared at times to want special treatment for her children and was often difficult when things didn't go her way. Her too frequent phone calls did nothing to alleviate the situation.
