Accomplishment and the spirit of cooperation

When individuals cooperate, work together in a spirit of mutual agreement and harmony, much can be accomplished. Most people know this, and yet someone may say, "There are so many different opinions on how things should be done. How can I help bring more unity to the group I work with every day?"

The answer Christian Science gives to this question is a spiritual one. In Science and Health, the textbook of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy writes of the basic spiritual truth that must underlie all unity. She says, "With one Father, even God, the whole family of man would be brethren; and with one Mind and that God, or good, the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth, and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which constitute divine Science." Science and Health, pp. 469-470.

It is the fatherhood of God, divine Spirit, that unites us. Our spirit of cooperation with all that is genuinely good is actually natural to us because we all have the same source, the divine Principle of all true being, God Himself. No matter how strongly a material view of people may argue to the contrary, man is God's spiritual likeness, His representative or witness. The "one Father," or divine Mind, does not have conflicting elements in His wholeness and oneness, so neither does His witness, man—and that includes all of us!
