Spiritual healing is going on now

How can we tell that our prayers for healing are being answered? Proofs of progress are often overlooked until we know where to find them.

When you've been praying for healing, sometimes it's tempting to think that nothing is going on because you haven't seen any immediate change. Well, the fact is there's plenty going on in thought—which is where all spiritual healing commences.

Through prayer, thought is being prepared, being lifted by the Christ, "precept upon precept; ... line upon line; here a little, and there a little."^{Isa. 28:10.} You can be certain that as thought is spiritually uplifted, it is being made thoroughly ready for healing.

To get a clear idea of what we're talking about, let's look at what a Christian Science healing really is. And then at some of the arguments that would keep us from recognizing the healing that is actually taking place. First of all, Christian Science healing involves more than physical change or alleviation of some difficulty. It isn't a "quick fix" of a material condition. On the contrary, healing in Christian Science is a deeply religious experience, a spiritual process that purifies and redeems our entire nature, revealing in us God's man, His beloved image and likeness.
