"Interested Parents' Rising Participation Aids State Schools"
"'With the state's economy as it is, with more working mothers and more single parents, you might think parental participation in the schools would be down. But it's up,' said Larry Webber, director of elementary education for Tulsa schools.
"'Children do better if parents are involved in the schools, it's as simple as that,' said Patti Patton Leeman of Oklahoma City.
"'Parents are more concerned about academic issues and thing like discipline and drugs,' Leeman said.
"'They aren't content to let somebody else educate their children. They want to know what the schools are doing, and what they can to help.'" Copyright © 1986, The Oklahoma Publishing Company.
