What do Christian Scientists mean by the atonement?
Christ Jesus exemplifies man's unity with God. To follow his supreme example is to work out our salvation as he showed.
What does atonement mean? And what are its implications in the teachings of Christian Science? The general sense of the word atone is to make restitution or to make amends for a wrong done or an error committed. One dictionary defines the word atonement as "satisfaction, reparation, or expiation made for wrong or injury; amends" and gives as a theological definition "the redemptive work of Christ."
