I was brought up in Christian Science and have relied on God throughout my life to heal physical troubles as well as academic, financial, and social difficulties. I have found that when one sincerely prays to God and listens for answers, solutions consistently come. I would like to share two experiences I've had that illustrate the healing power of prayer.

One time while I was playing soccer, I injured one of my big toes. The next day I found it difficult to walk on that foot or even to put a shoe on. A few days went by without any improvement. When the next soccer practice came I was unable to play, so I decided to use the time to pray more thoroughly about the problem. I began carefully studying Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to review and put into practice the instructions for prayer and healing.

After about two hours of study, I felt no better and was becoming frustrated. At that point I simply sat back in my chair and reached out to God, asking, "What do I need to know? How can this situation be healed?" The thought came to me that I wasn't really concerned about my toe. Rather, I was unhappy about not being able to play soccer and afraid that I might not be able to play for several weeks.
