Christ Jesus

Jane Huelster Hanson

A towering figure—
God-sent Saviour,
great Teacher,
absolute Master,
humanity's healer,
and loving Exemplar
from Bethlehem
to Bethany.

We ponder his
stupendous life
as the world's answer
to strife,
and creep closer
to the cross
through every hour of
struggle and loss.

And find, beyond the agony,
the promise of victory:
spiritual understanding dawning
with healing effect—
the ever-present Christ
realized there!
And the crowning glory of Love
perceived through prayer.
