"Is there no balm in Gilead ...?"*
My darkened sense,
crippled by doubt
cried out,
"Is there no balm in Gilead ...?"
A spark of light
flashed into view,
and I knew
there is balm in Gilead:
The truth is here, arousing, waking
my dormant,
dreaming,
idle,
shrunken sense
to see.
The Lord upholds and strengthens me.
Love said,
"The childlike heart can hear
angel-answers, strong and clear.
There is healing balm in Gilead."
